PLANNING BEFORE MIGRATION
5 Things to do before migrating to Australia.
As complex as migration may seem, it doesn’t always have to be that hard. A little planning in advance goes a long way. We recently asked our clients what tips they would provide to people who are moving to Australia. Following is a list of carefully selected pointers that were common among most of our clients.
1. Personal Documents All your personal documents such as birth certificates, education qualifications, mortgage documents and bank statements etc. should be kept ready, both in hard copy and soft copy (electronic version.)
2. Medical recordsMake sure you bring all your medical files. You can provide the files to your local doctor, optometrist and dentist. This will be useful as they’ll know your medical history and can give you accurate advice. If you have children ensure to bring their immunization records as well.
3. Work Experience and school reports Make sure you bring all your medical files. You can provide the files to your local doctor, optometrist and dentist. This will be useful as they’ll know your medical history and can give you accurate advice. If you have children ensure to bring their immunization records as well.
3. Work Experience and school reportsMake sure you have electronic copies your work experience letters, your CV and your children’s report cards. This will make the process of finding a job admitting your children in a new school a lot easier.
4. Overseas bank accounts and insurance policiesNotify your bank and insurance companies that you are moving to Australia. You may want to consider providing access to your overseas bank account to your local accountant, lawyer or family.
5. Rent in Australia If you are intending to rent in Australia and you rented in your home country consider obtaining reference letters from the previous real estate agent this will assist you greatly in Australia. In addition, budget at least 8 weeks rent as many agents in Australia will require a deposit on a rental property of at least 4 weeks.
