OUR ADVICE
The skilled visa program has become very competitive. The points score required for the 189 visa remains other options for permanent residency will continue to be competitive such as the 190 visa or the 489 visa. Applicants can increase their points by:
• Obtaining a higher English score
• Undertaking the NAATI exam
• Studying in Australia (i.e. gaining a qualification)

If applicants can’t consider any of the above mentioned options, then they may need to consider going to a regional area and applying for the Subclass 491 Skilled Regional Visa which will be available in November 2019.
